MCA Admission at 30+ NITs Across India
NIMCET is a national-level entrance test conducted by NITs on a rotational basis for admission to MCA (Master of Computer Applications) programmes. Around 30 NITs participate, offering ~6,000 MCA seats. It is the most important MCA entrance in India.
120 questions, 2 hours. Mathematics (50 Qs, 200 marks), Analytical Ability & Logical Reasoning (40 Qs, 160 marks), Computer Awareness (20 Qs, 80 marks), English (10 Qs, 40 marks). +4/-1 marking.
Mathematics has the highest weightage (200/480 marks) — it is your most important scoring area
Logical Reasoning (160 marks) is very doable with practice — solve 30–40 questions daily
Computer Awareness is where CS/IT background students gain an edge — master Data Structures
English is only 40 marks but can make a difference at the cut-off — do not ignore it
Solve NIMCET papers from 2018–2024 — the difficulty level and pattern are very consistent
NIT-wise cut-offs vary hugely — aim for top 200 rank for NIT Trichy/Warangal; top 1000 for others
